Old school bus factory to transform into Saint Elmo Market

By Amanda Dugan

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A former South Austin building that housed a school bus manufacturer now houses furniture. Soon, you’ll know it as the Saint Elmo Market. The goal of Saint Elmo Market, 113 Industrial Blvd., is to attract music, entertainment, media and technology companies to the space. They are currently looking for tenants that will expand on the creative hub. The space will also house local breweries, distilleries and restaurants.

Saint Elmo Market will also offer four local music charities office space free of rent. Lead developer of Saint Elmo Market, Brandon Bolin, feels the new market place will play an exciting role in future SXSW events.

“We’d like the Saint Elmo Market to be a big seminal part of SXSW,” said Bolin. “If you look around, this is a beautiful space. It can be activated as a critical component to what South-by does.”

Construction is expected to begin in January 2016, with the project wrapping up in 2017.
